The council camporee is the weekend of October 19-21 with the theme of Back 2 Basics. The cost of the event will be about $20 per scout. This will cover the camporee fee as well as food for the weekend.
We need to decide at our troop meeting on whether or not we will be attending, and if so plan and prepare for the event. Any remaining time at the meeting we will use to do more work on Citizenship in the World.
If the troop is planning on attending the camporee, at least three scouts from the troop must commit, and we will need to let the council know we will be attending and how many. If you will not be attending this troop meeting please let Mr. Keslar know no later than Wednesday morning if you would like to go to the camporee. We need at least 3 scouts if we want to attend this event.

“Learning the Basics and more”
This camporee will focus on key outdoor skills. Scouts will be covering outdoor skills but not in a competitive environment. They will be attending sessions during the day. These sessions will be designed to instruct them on basic scout skills but will show them and give them the opportunity to try out these skills. Emphasis will be on learning and expanding current skill sets. This will give the troops a chance to catch up on the basic skills in a controlled outdoor environment. These are all perishable skills and will also give older scouts new techniques to use.
The following will be the topics covered in rotation:
|Fire Building||Shelter Building||Blowgun and Sling Shot
|Hiking Stoves||Water Purification||Knots and Lashings
In order, to facilitate this camporee, we will need help of the adult leaders and senior scouts to run the sessions. All the instructional material will be provided or brought by the patrols.
We will be holding a flag retirement ceremony Saturday evening and are inviting the troops to bring flags they have, to be retired. Instructions will be given at the camporee for the ceremony and what the troops will need to do for prepping flags.
Following the retirement ceremony, we will be holding a cracker barrel for all Camporee participants.
The Following equipment list needs to be brought by each patrol:
|Fire Starting Kit||First Aid Kit||8x10 Tarp
|4 Tent Pegs||4 Bungie Cords||25' of rope
Each Scout should have:
