The Westmoreland Fayette Council will be hosting a Red Cross Wilderness and Remote First Aid course at Buck Run on the Eberly Scout Reservation. Cost of the course is $90.00. Deadline for reservations is April 18, 2019.
The primary purpose of the Wilderness First Aid Course (WFA) is to provide individuals a foundation of first aid knowledge and skills to be able to respond to emergencies and give care. When you are out in the wilderness immediate emergency medical services may not be available. In this course participants will develop leadership skill and learn how to plan for, prevent, and respond to emergencies in the wilderness.
Upon completion of the WFA course, participants will receive a Red Cross certification indicating WFA – which is valid for two years. Successful course completion requires participation in all course activities and skills sessions. Some practice sessions may require strenuous or uneven terrain. Wear layers of clothing appropriate for weather conditions. Participants may be required to kneel or lay on wet surfaces.
