Ad Altare Dei (to the altar of God) Program

The Ad Altare Dei (to the altar of God) program is to help Catholic Youth develop a fully Christian way of life in the faith community. The program is organized into chapters based on the seven sacraments. The seven Sacraments are a primary means toward spiritual growth.

If you are interested in earning this award, Troop 236 is sponsoring classes for this program. The first class will be held from 3 pm – 5 pm on Sundays beginning September 10, 2017, at St. Barbara Catholic Church, Harrison City, PA. The future schedule will be discussed at this first meeting.

If you are interested in this program or have any questions, please contact, Tom Crock III, Scoutmaster, Troop 236 at chpLtsm236@windstream.net or mobile 724-708-1234.  So that the proper number of participant manuals are available, please RSVP.

Below is an overview of the program.

Objectives

The most important aspect of the program is that the Scout grows in their spiritual experience of their relationship to God and the church.
Eligibility

Any youth of the Roman Catholic Faith who is registered with a BSA Troop or Crew and has been an active member of the troop or crew for 6 months. The program is designed for youths that have completed the 6th grade and are 13 to 14 years old. However, older youth may participate in the program.

Other Religious Programs

To encourage scouting members to grow stronger in their faith, religious groups have developed religious emblem programs. The Boy Scouts of America has approved of these programs and allows the emblems to be worn on the official uniform. The various religious groups administer the individual programs. Check with your local council service center or contact the religious organization directly to obtain the curriculum booklets.

You can learn more about other available religious emblems at Religious Emblems Page on the scouting.org website.

“A Scout is reverent. He is reverent toward God. He is faithful in his religious duties and respects the convictions of others in matters of custom and religion.”
