We will be meeting at the Murrysville Volunteer Fire Company at 7 pm for this week’s meeting. This is the firehall next to the Murrysville Medic One facility where we build the luminaries.

Please bring your home fire escape plan drawing.

Annual Banquet and Court of Honor March 28, 2017

When:      Tuesday March 28, 2017 @ 6pm

Where:     Hills Church

Troop 213’s annual banquet and Court of Honor will be held March 28 at Hills Church. All Webelos and Bear Scouts and their families are invited to attend. The troop will provide the main dish, beverages, and desert. Each family is asked to bring a side dish (casserole, vegetable, or salad) to share.

If you have not been called yet to find out what dish you will be bringing, please contact Mrs. Pavlick.

Several awards will be presented. Our district representative, David Slusarick will be there to talk about the Friends of Scouting program.  We will also go over information about this year’s summer camp, and the summer trip to Virginia.

Food Pantry @ 5:30pm – Tuesday 3/7/2017

This week’s meeting will be our quarterly service project meeting helping out with the West Moreland County Food Bank at Mother of Sorrows.  The event starts at 5:30pm which is a little earlier than our typical meetings.

If you can please come a few minutes early for volunteer registration. The service hours each boy earns here can count toward individual rank advancement, and helps with the troop with “Scouting’s Journey to Excellence“.

Adults and scouts, I hope to see you there to help with this community service project.

Sports Camp – March 10 thru 12, 2017

Where:   Camp Guyasuta

When:     Fri March 10 thru Sun March 12, 2017

Cost:        $20/person

Depart:    Fri @ 7:00 pm, Hills Church  (back parking lot)

Return:    Sun ~ 9:30 am, Hills Church (back parking lot)

Download, fill out and return a  permission slip by Tuesday, March 7, 2017.

We will be working on the Sports Merit Badge.  Don’t forget to bring your scout handbooks for reference, and to work on rank advancement.

The troop will assemble at 7:00 pm in the back parking lot of Hills Church to load troop and personal equipment.

The troop will return Sunday morning around 9:30 am in the back parking lot of Hills Church.  Boys will be dismissed after all troop equipment is unloaded and properly stored.

Scout STEM Day @ St. Vincent College – March 18, 2017

STEM NOVA Awards offered:

Both the merit badges and the NOVA award will require the completion of prerequisite requirements prior to the day of the event.  Information on these prerequisites can be found HERE

Registration is $20 per Scout, $10 for accompanying adults.  One adult is required for every 8 Scouts participating from the same unit.

All registrations include lunch and materials.

NOTE:  This program is not recommended for boys who crossed over into Scouting in February/March

REGISTRATION DEADLINE IS FRIDAY, MARCH 10. Space is limited for this event.

Summer Camp Deposit Due Tuesday Feb 28, 2017

Amount:   $50

Summer is still a few months away, but it is time to start thinking about summer camp.  The Troop needs to tell Council how many boys will be going to summer camp this year.  To do this they require a $50 deposit for each boy who will be attending.  This deposit will be credited towards each scouts summer camp balance, but it is non-refundable.

As usual, the troop will be attending the 1st week of summer camp (June 18th thru 24th) at Camp Conestoga.  The total cost for each scout will be $335 if paid in full by May 2nd.

Open House for 14-20 Year Olds: Exploring EMS/Rescue Careers!

North Huntington EMS/ResecueNorth Huntington EMS/RescueCome learn about the exciting opportunities that may come from a career in emergency medical services (EMS), rescue, and related healthcare fields! Through a partnership between North Huntingdon EMS/Rescue and the BSA Exploring Programs, students will have the opportunity to meet the administration and staff members, tour the facility and equipment, and discuss opportunities that may lie ahead. This is a continuing program that would require you to fill out an application (which will be available at this meeting) and to pay an annual participation fee of $24. We encourage you to bring your parents and friends to this first meeting! So that we may prepare properly for the evening, we are asking that you call 724-864-2540 to reserve your spot at this informational meeting.
