There will be no meeting next week, but we will have one the following Tuesday, August 14, 2018.
At that meeting, we will be holding an election for a new Senior Patrol Leader, so please make an effort to come.
We had a great meeting this week planning our meetings and activities throughout the end of the year. The Troop online calendar will be updated to include this information later this week, so stay tuned.
As we discuss at our last meeting we will be trying a new meeting format. After the meeting opening, we will pick a single scout skill like tying a particular knot, reviewing a first aid scenario, etc, and we will reserve the last 15 minutes of the meeting to play a game. It will be up to the Scout who is scheduled for that week to plan and execute the game for the meeting. Hopefully, this will get us out of the rut where meetings have turned into a classroom lecture.
Remeber for meetings you should be in uniform, during the summer (end of school thru labor day) it should be your class B’s, after labor day the uniform for meetings will be class A’s. Also, you should be bringing your Scout handbook to every meeting.

Now it’s time to begin to plan for another great Scouting year, beginning with recruitment to maintain and, hopefully, to increase unit membership.
The National Eagle Scout Association will award nearly $700,000 in scholarships to more than 150 Eagle Scouts based on their academic performance, Scouting background, college plans and financial need.
The window for the latest round of National Eagle Scout Association scholarships opens today — Aug. 1, 2018. It will close for good on Oct. 31, 2018.
Scholarship recipients will be notified by mail on July 15, 2019, and money will be disbursed to these deserving Eagle Scouts in fall 2019.
These scholarships reward the best of the best, and they are extremely competitive. About 3 percent of the expected 5,000 applicants will receive a scholarship.
If you’re an Eagle Scout between your senior year of high school and junior year of college, you’ll want to apply and give yourself a chance at earning some cash for college.
